Research, Halftone Relief Printing, Laser Woodcut

While walking and roaming around Bangalore, I came across an area known as Pottery Town. The narrative I found inspiring and bizarre was how for the past thirty years of their lives, they wake up, mould a thousand pots or cups, retire for the day and repeat this again the next day. I wanted to convey this practice of Repetition and how it formulates their lives.
After making an image I separated it into layers of cine, magenta, yellow and key. For each layer, I then reduced the DPI and individually laser cut them on four MDF boards. I inked all four boards and printed in the CMYK order using an etching press.
To clearly view the print, one must position themselves further away- because the closer you are, the more confusing the image seems. This is a metaphorical attempt to encourage the audience to regard this city from a larger vantage point.
